A l’occasion de l’exposition “Moriyama – Tomatsu : Tokyo” à la Maison Européenne de la Photographie, la Galerie Da-End vous propose de redécouvrir sa série Erotica du japonais Daïdo Moriyama. L’exposition “Onna (Femmes)” présentera une vingtaine de clichés sulfureux, donnant à voir un pan plus intime et sensuel du photographe.

Figure majeure de la photographie japonaise du début des années soixante-dix, Daido Moriyama appartient à un mouvement de photographes (dont Tomatsu et Araki) rejetant l’image préconçue et porteuse d’un message, au profit de celle anti-conformiste, sauvage et brute. Témoin de l’oscillation du Japon entre tradition et modernité, cette génération a largement contribué à renouveler le langage photographique de l’époque. Moriyama tout particulièrement mitraille la ville et tout ce(ux) qu’il croise de façon obsessionnelle et subreptice, comme pour compiler les souvenirs d’un monde éphémère et flottant. “Les photographies sont les empreintes de la lumière et la mémoire, les photographies constituent l’histoire de la mémoire. C’est le mythe de la lumière.”

On the occasion of the exhibition "Moriyama - Tomatsu: Tokyo" at the Maison Européenne de la Photographie, the Da-End Gallery invites you to rediscover the Erotica series by Japanese photographer Daïdo Moriyama. The exhibition "Onna (Women)" will present about twenty sultry shots, showing a more intimate and sensual side of the photographer.

A major figure in Japanese photography in the early 1970s, Daido Moriyama belongs to a movement of photographers (including Tomatsu and Araki) who rejected the preconceived image with a message, in favor of the anti-conformist, wild and raw. Witnessing the oscillation of Japan between tradition and modernity, this generation has largely contributed to renew the photographic language of the time. Moriyama, in particular, shot the city and everything he encountered in an obsessive and surreptitious way, as if to compile the memories of an ephemeral and floating world.
