La Galerie Da-End se réjouit de dévoiler un ensemble inédit de sérigraphies de cet artiste avant-gardiste des années 1970. Le corpus jamais présenté Hana Yasha - qui vient compléter la première série exposée en 2010 - est le fruit d’une étroite collaboration au cours de l’année 2009, entre la galerie et le maître sérigraphe Fumie Taniyama, sous la direction attentive de Toshio Saeki lui-même.

Toshio Saeki (1945-2019) était un dessinateur devenu icône de l’underground japonais. Son œuvre est à la croisée des traditions japonaises du shunga (estampes érotiques nées au XVIIè siècle) et des yōkai (créatures surnaturelles issues du folklore japonais). Il avait aussi renouvelé, dit-on, le genre de l’ero-guro, mouvement artistique et littéraire japonais apparu vers 1930, combinant érotisme, éléments macabres et grotesques. « Son érotisme monstrueux bousculant d’autant plus fortement qu’il repose sur la puissance d’évocation et se déploie dans un dessin très pur. Galerie Da-End is delighted to unveil a new set of silkscreen printings by this avant-garde artist of the 1970s. The never-before presented corpus Hana Yasha - which completes the first series exhibited in 2010 - is the result of a close collaboration during 2009 between the gallery and silkscreen master Fumie Taniyama, under the attentive direction of Toshio Saeki himself.

Toshio Saeki (1945-2019) was an illustrator who became an icon of the Japanese underground. His work is at the crossroads of the Japanese traditions of shunga (traditional erotic engravings from 17th century) and yōkai (surnatural creatures from Japanese folklore).
